My best time to the top has dropped from 40 minutes to 30:54.

I have been going up the hill almost every day. The view is great and it feels great to rest up at the top.

I went up the hill again. I will send you a photo by email if I get a chance.

Susan, how is your diet and exercise program?

  • 10 Cents posted an update in the group Group logo of Water RatsWater Rats 1 month ago

This is a day of rest. It is good to give my muscles time to restore.

  • 10 Cents posted an update in the group Group logo of Water RatsWater Rats 1 month ago

Went up the hill. Great to get exercise.

At the top of the hill. Pulse at 160. Drenched. Pulse is at 128. Sitting on a bench.

    I’m going downhill, Susan.

Hey Dime, sorry to be so far under the radar.
We have been inactive – sadly. Swimming is a challenge as our pools are limited in capacity and the beaches we usually launch from are closed due to high levels of bacteria (think way too many Canada geese). I’m headed for the ocean soon and plan to walk daily while there. Nice to ‘see’ you.

    • How’s the diet?
I am more than half way to my goal. Some smaller clothes are fitting better now.

I have been climbing up a hill on my walks recently. I gain around 160 meters in elevation according to my GPS watch.

Still keeping my 8000 steps a day and as much as possible low carb.

  • 10 Cents posted an update in the group Group logo of Water RatsWater Rats 2 months, 2 weeks ago

I am keeping up on at least 8000 steps a day. I double that on some days.

Last week I was half way to weight goal. All I have to do is keep at it since I am over the hump.

I am back on intermittent fasting. I am a third of my way to my goal.

I am back on intermittent fasting. I still put in at least 8K a day.
    How are you doing, Susan?
    Any swimming during lockdown?

    • Oh dear, so sorry to be so out of touch.
*sigh* our lockdown is so fantastically dreary. I finally bought a wetsuit so I could do some open-water swimming. I’ve only gone twice and have been dismayed by my lack of stamina and strength after being stuck on dry land for over 2 months now. We are strongly petitioning our doofus guv to let the pools open again so we can swim: this affects 1000s of people. Swimming pools are one of the safest’ places people can be yet there’s the deference to ‘science’ and ‘data’ which, it appears, is being twisted for another agenda. It is all very…[Read more]

    • Sorry to hear this. It is painful to have one’s schedule uprooted especially exercise.
On the upside this stress may be good for your business.

    How is the diet going?

I am getting my 8K steps in.

    • It’s amazing how easy it is to fast for 18 hours. Today, though, it didn’t happen as we had a family dinner that went late and I kept eating. However, I won’t be needing to eat anything tomorrow until late afternoon, so there will be another 18-20 hour fast. Next on the list is to eliminate sugar and white flour completely; hasn’t happened yet.

    • It takes time and there or times you can just have a cup of coffee/tea with your friends.
I like Jason Fung’s take of you just get resources from another source. One is still getting energy but instead of that day’s food you tap into one’s store of fat.

I’ve been at the pool more in spirit than 100% presence, it seems. I was there 3 times this past week. I’m in a bit of a slump it seems but hope to ‘right my ship’ before too much longer. I’ve been wanting to thank whomever recommended ‘The Obesity Code’ as I am implementing an intermittent fast and it does seem to be making me feel better. What do you do about all the rice in your Japanese diet? Seriously; not asking for a friend.

    • I think you heard about the “The Obesity Code” from me who heard about it from Stu in Tokyo. It is good way to control the diet. I thought I would never be able to do it and it sounded a little crazy.

Lately I don’t eat very much rice.
Part of the diet is knowing you can just forget about food for a day.
Let me know how it goes.

How is your swimming coming along?

  • 10 Cents posted an update in the group Group logo of Water RatsWater Rats 7 months, 3 weeks ago

Thank you for the post, Susan.
I just finish another week of daily 8000+steps walking.
    How is the swimming?

    • I hope you liked it. I wanted it to be ‘just right’ and had a lot of hesitation about putting myself ‘out there.’ Writing for an unknown audience is daunting. Would you mind if I posted our group portrait at the legacy site? I won’t do it if you don’t think it’s a good idea.
Swimming going okay. Have been super low-energy of late but hope to get that figured out before too much longer.
