We All Live in Parallel Universes

Today was a contrast in the many worlds we move through each day.

This morning I reviewed my usual sites on the web for news and opinion and got the usual dose. The phone began ringing and the email stream fired up. I was dealing with people from several cities who wanted product , had questions or needed to send money,

I refill the Kona coffee in my office mug and observe the media talking heads pass what was supposed to sound like learned and serious commentary on subjects they barely understood even at the shallowest level.

Back to reality, I drive to a client to be there when his CPA came in to explain why his corporate change from S corp to C corp was not recognized by the IRS. (CPA screwed it up).

Driving to the next client, I hear the media again talking about more things they only dimly comprehend on the Sirius radio in the truck.

Next, I am helping a client deal with a Russian who has a truck he wants to buy with a salvage title. The Russian got it from an insurance company total and rebuilt the front end. He now wants to sell it for a real decent price.

After a few calls to his insurance company, the DMV and a test drive, I render my advice and he cuts a check to the Russian who tried to haggle the price up based on the fact that I just said it was a good buy. Gotta love that Russian deal making.

Driving home, I decide to turn on the flash drive that has my 80 GB of music and set back and let the cruise control get me home without the benefit of yelling at media idiocy.

The real stuff is a great contrast to the make believe world our elites seem to occupy, where intangibles are primary, feelings are more important than facts and esteem and fame have more value than honor and sweat.

Watch out, if you point that out to them they will eviscerate you with a tweet.

And they will be kind if you don’t?

  3. Nice little vignette, TKC.

As we talked about last night on the RAMU, the media is a problem. As you describe it, it seems they are just mostly dilettantes out of their depth. There is a hard kernel at the center which is focused on an agenda and I think these are the people overseeing these amateurs. These amateurs are pawns in their game — the left flatters them and tells them they are the spearpoint on the arc of history (Obama was more pawn than great game strategist).

The hard kernel of know-it-all Marxists is the reason we don’t have a media comprised of professionals. It is much more important for them to have meme spreaders than truth-telling and honest reporting. I hope we are going to see the ending (near end maybe) of this modern phenomenon in the next few years.

That is very well put. It is creepy as all get out, but the hard kernel at the center is a force that cannot cloak itself entirely. Little streams of its essence, roiling into our private spaces, over the course of years, add up to something effective, but also detectable.
