10,000 Comment Milestone

As of writing this post the comments are at 9956, which means in only a few hours the site will reach 10,000. Why do I write a post like this? Because I think history matters. People can look back later at who was here and how the site came together.

  1. I grudgingly admit how some of you have moments of wit. You make me laugh with your creativity. What I love is the fluidity of how the topics go from the deep to the lighthearted.

I think we come together because of a love for knowledge. It is special to see photos of carp and parks. It stretches the mind to read the science posts. We have films and book reviews. Bad jokes mixed in with the good jokes. Tussles about grammar and history. And there is [Fill in the name of the member who makes you shake your head.]

Thank You for having Me (and for Yer assistance).

Great to have you finally here, Jimmy!!

Jimmy Carter was for the longest time in the Pending Members file. Luckily Larry Koler was able to contact him and we worked something out.

  3. At the same time, we are at 809 posts, which means an average of more than 12 comments per post.  This means we’re scoring well in what social media geeks call “engagement”—people don’t just read the site, they jump in and discuss the content in the posts.  Now 12 comments per post may not seem a high number, but bear in mind that we have only 102 members at this writing and fewer, on average, over the life of the site since it opened on 2017-12-10.  We have also established new records for average daily hits, files, pages, and visits for every month since the site opened (see the Access Statistics for details—we publish them, updated daily, for anybody to see).

  4. Jimmy Carter, I don’t care what avatar you use but you have to upload a picture of your shoes. I love how you took that one picture with Peter Robinson. (It was a picture of Peter with just seeing the shoes of Jimmy.)

    Lovely to hear from you!

You were the very first person to write a comment about one of my posts and even though you weren’t sure you agreed with me you were complimentary and respectful. Perfect that you’re chiming in now as Dime and John approach a milestone.

Thank You, Sock ( I can call You, Sock, Right? If not, just say so).

I can’t find My original pic without the coffee mug. So many years, and a couple few computers ago. I can’t recreate the original, due to moving and I no longer have that desk. Perhaps I can think of something else.

That pic with Mr. Robinson was a blast. It was late and as We were all leaving I asked if I could get a picture with Him. He said,”Absolutely! Where do You want Me?” I told Him and as soon as I propped My feet up His entire crew recognized what I was doing and started snapping away. A lot of fun.

It’s Mr. Sock, Jimmy. (Sure you can call me, Sock.)

Sometimes the threads remind me of a good dinner party during which a conversation meanders and flows in a very natural manner.

For those keeping count, Jimmy Carter’s Member No. is 35. He signed up that early. If you looked at the date he joined on his profile it says  2017-12-19.  The site started 2017-12-10.

I would be remiss if I didn’t thank Koler for assisting in getting Me Here. After checking out the digs, I find Them very comforting and inviting; civilizing.

    Thank You, Koler.

I don’t know, Mr. Sock. I would love to use the shoes (a pic I’ve been using since I discovered the interwebs), but the more I see the pic I have now, the more I’m digging it. Ya gotta admit it’s pretty entertaining.

They’re might be a rule against footwear, Jimmy. I can tell you the Membership is pretty hostile toward it. You’ve made the better choice.

Terry, this mess you see was here before you came. You can’t take credit for it. In fact you have made things a little better.
