TOTD 2018-06-01: Is Finland the Texas of Europe?

I am sick as a dog, still having chills shaking me like a leaf.  But I made a promise, and I intend to keep it.  Sorry if this is silly.

I honestly find Youtube much entertaining than normal TV.  While browsing the Slingshot Channel, I came across a link to the Hydraulic Press Channel.  The concept is simple – a Finnish machinist (Lauri) crushes items with a hydraulic press, with the help of his wife Anni and safety inspection cat Nelli.

They also a channel for non-press shenanigans, such as abusing a frozen lake.  This also goes more into their background.  (For example, Anni is a power-lifter and martial artist in addition to making play-doh animals for the press to crush.  Cute yet dangerous!)

?Cruising the Beyond the Press channel, I eventually ran across the Sons of Xplosion channel.  The explosions are amazing, and their enthusiasm is great.

Please tell me that most Finns are like this – that is one area of Europe we don’t have to worry about!  (My reference to Texas is completely complimentary!)

You are not subscribed to this post. Now, do you want the truth?

  3. I thought this post was going to be about “taxes” not about he-men. (Can I write he-men without getting into trouble?) Just in case, non-descriptive-men with toxic masculinity that women feel attracted too but feel bad about it.

Is this the same guy that John Walker has a “crush” on?

Yes, the Finns are like that, but the crazy thing is that they’re in the EU and seem to be happy with it.  Why they didn’t opt for the Norway option (or as we No EU! people call it, NO-WAY), I don’t understand.

One curiosity about Finland.  The best English-language bookshop in the world is, as you might expect, in London.  The second best is in Helsinki.

    Do American bookstores count?

  6. 10 Cents:
I thought the hydraulic press guy was Russian.  Are there more than one on YouTube?

No, the Hydraulic Press Channel guy is a Finn.  There are lots of crazy Russians on YouTube but he isn’t one of them.

After HPC videos went viral, tons of imitation press channels appeared.  There is only one Hoodraulic Press Channel though, and it is very Finnish.

I read that Finland used to have crazy protectionism, and going EU made things cheaper
