“More Than This” — Roxy Music

Most soothing song in my collection. Upbeat but serene.

I could feel at the time
There was no way of knowing
Fallen leaves in the night
Who can say where they’re blowing?
As free as the wind
Hopefully learning
Why the sea on the tide
Has no way of turning

[Chorus]
More than this
You know there’s nothing
More than this
Tell me one thing
More than this
Ooh, there’s nothing

[Verse 2]
It was fun for a while
There was no way of knowing
Like a dream in the night
Who can say where we’re going?
No care in the world
(Maybe I’m learning
Why the sea on the tide
Has no way of turning)

  1. Carol; I was in SF once visiting a girlfriend and BF was sitting next to us at a coffee bar. We reacted like high school teenagers. :))

That would totally make my week, if not my month or even my year!

  3. A long as we’re swapping celeb stories:

I used to live in the Upper West Side of Manhattan on the corner of CPW and 72nd St, two brownstones down from the Dakota where you-know-who lived.

I walked into a local cannoli cafe on the block with a friend and stopped in my tracks; there before my very eyes sat John Lennon and Yoko Ono. My highly hip and nuanced pal who had been born and raised in NYC taught me one of my first “city girl” lessons.

    She hissed:

“Do not act like a Midwesterner who just fell off a turnip truck. If you stare at them or even think about asking for an autograph, I will be disbarred from ever coming here again. You will be a life-long pariah.”

Unfortunately for all, neither of us would ever get the chance to experience such a social faux pas; Lennon was murdered less than a month later.
