Nomination Window Closes Friday July 20 for Science Fiction’s Dragon Awards

If you’re a science fiction fan, consider participating in the Dragon Awards to honor the year’s best fiction. Declan Finn has a nice round-up of Dragon Award suggestions. I’m honored that A Rambling Wreck made Declan’s list as well as the Happy Frogs slate of recommendations.  There are many other fine works worth looking into as well.

  1. Seawriter:
Shameless promotion of your own book.

    like that.

This wasn’t shameless. It was a reminder to show appreciation to different SciFi writers. It seemed to be “Let the best person win and I am in the running.”

Of course there is the philosophical question of “Is ‘a shameless writer’ a redundant phrase? 🙂

  2. One thing I’ve learned as an aspiring writer is that writing the book is only half the work. The other half is promoting and marketing it. A bit of shamelessness helps, but I do hope I’m not over doing it!

If you’re a science fiction fan, do check out the books on the various slates and recommendations Declan has compiled. There are an amazing number of excellent emerging authors who’ve bypassed the trad pub gatekeepers and deliver superb entertainment value – usually “free” if you are in Kindle Unlimited. A few years ago, I couldn’t find enough good new books read, and I mostly reread old classic favorites. Now I have to pick and choose from the most promising of new works, because I don’t have time to keep up with it all.
