Pedro Gonzales

This is the best argument I’ve seen yet for how and why the Left is demonic, and why we must combat them existentially.  American Greatness continues to perform valuable service.

  1. Unfortunately the Left doesn’t have a monopoly on evil. It is easy for people to think they are doing the “kind” thing for others. It is subtle. One can think they are protecting the community when in reality they are destroying it.

It is in another context but I think Nassim Taleb gets at this about the best with his “Skin in game”. There are consequences for bad actions. One has to in a sense “eat what you cook”.  Think about it. People  who are causing problems don’t want to live under and be responsible for their actions. They want to stifle criticism. They want the light to be extinguished. They create the damage and want others to pay.

  2. When I see Fox News do a balanced interview on the violence or mob action issue, those advocating for the Republicans list a number of violent acts, (Scalise, Paul), or public disruptions resulting from protests, (Antifa), and actions against individuals in their private lives. Then when those advocating for the Democrats get their chance they list Merrick Garland and Brett Kavanaugh and the treatment accorded Dr. Ford and try to equate these political contests where the Republicans prevail because they hold the governing power to the various violent acts committed by Democrat advocates. There is some kind of different standard in play.

  3. This was a timely post as I watched a Ken Burns documentary on Hitler last night complete with the propagandist contributions of infamous filmmaker Leni Riefenstahl. As much as my generation has read about the Third Reich, there is always something new to learn that will remain pertinent to the future. The strategies of both the Dems and Nazis differ little. This particular quote appeared as relevant today as it was then.

To deny the tenets of victimology is to blaspheme, but to accept it means to embrace a system of social credit where, in the words of Robert Miller, “knowledge and experience is not part of a human condition so much as a tribal reality unique to each group.”

  4. This was succinct:

If the Right should prevail over the Left, it must understand leftism for what it is, not merely an alternative political theory, but a totalitarian ideology that sleeps, eats, and breaths revolution with an inexorable impulse to crush the nonconforming.

Yes, and this is exactly the sort of moral equivalence that we get from Nevers.   The Christian understanding that we are flawed persons in need of a Savior applies to conservatives as well as Leftists.

However, we are talking about a Party that promotes the destruction of western civilization and all its underpinnings.   They want to destroy the church, destroy all the old institutions, even destroy the family, in their mad rush to establish a totalitarian Leftist workers’ paradise.   They oppose America-first exceptionalism because America was built through strong families, strong churches, Christian morals and individualism.   They would crush individualism and the churches first, losing morality with it.   In fact, their latest lunacies over gender and abortion have been promoted in order to attack churches and families.

We are defending what is good.   They are on the attack.

Yes, they are on the side of evil, and should be called out as such.

The low-information crowd needs to be awakened to the true threat posed by the Party of Death.

  6. Further from Gonzalez:

Indeed, the alliances of yesteryear are no longer viable and the problem is exemplified by the state of The Weekly Standard, Commentary, and National Review in the Trump era. The Standard has been complicit in the Left’s evil crusade to upend the outcome of the 2016 election, while Commentary and National Review (with a minority of notable exceptions) remain somewhere between ambivalent and cold when it comes to these questions. Neoconservatives only seemed “conservative” against the backdrop of Soviet Communism, without which, as Bill Kristol has confessed, the “inner socialist,” the “inner feminist,” the “inner liberal” emerges.

I wasn’t trying to make a moral equivalence argument. The point I wanted to make it is too easy for people to forget the pitfalls as they are focusing on the failures of others. One snide sneering group replaced by another doesn’t help much.

Wouldn’t you agree that internal destruction is more devastating than external destruction? If we no longer defend our positions, they haven’t won we gave up.

Maybe.   But I could put up with some snideness and sneering from our side by conservatives who would actually take up the fight.

Yes.   Never give up.   And be vigilant.   Destruction doesn’t only come from giving up.   It can come from friendly fire.
