  1. Depends on what a president wants to delegate to his veep. Dick Cheney was, imho, the most indispensable member in the Bush administration.

  2. I would have to say the Mike Pence is indispensable. Why ? When half the country thinks Trump is going off the rails verbally. Mike is sitting or standing by his side with that “All is fine” look on his face. This is priceless. Mike completes Trump.

  3. In the beginning, the Vice President was the runner up to the President.   That sounded fine when they were drafting the document and everyone admired and supported General Washington.   Then they quickly discovered that the Vice President turned out to be the guy who ran hardest against the guy who won, so he was essentially the leader of the opposition.

Getting out of that jam was what led to a two-party system.

In the two-party world, the Vice President is usually whoever was available who could deliver the most votes to the ticket.   So, for example, John Kennedy selected Lyndon Johnson, not because they agreed on anything or got along with each other, but because LBJ’s machine could steal all the votes that JFK’s machine couldn’t steal.

I totally agree with this comment because Pence is loyal and smart and experienced with the legislative branch as much as anyone can be now! I wish him well because he has one of the most difficult jobs in the administration and he bears that responsibility like a real man.

Harrumph to any of his detractors.
