  1. The “indigenous people” were savages who practiced human sacrifice and never invented the wheel or arch. Let them put up a mural depicting that.

  2. Won’t someone cover the District of Columbia instead?

I thought universities were for freedom of thought not for censoring things.

The same people who want this to happen to a picture of Columbus would like to see a world with out Notre Dame. Appeasement rarely works for it is never enough.

A world without Columbus is a world without Notre Dame. Deny Columbus and you deny civilization in the Americas.

  5. Though born and raised in Italy, by the 1490s Columbus was a loyal Spaniard. He had even changed his name from Cristoforo Colombo (Italian) to Cristobal Colon (Spanish). So why do those clowns covering up his pictures hate Hispanics?

  7. Spain came to the new world for 2 reasons: gold, and to spread Catholicism.  For a university named  “Our Lady” to refuse to even display the discoverer’s  picture is beyond ludicrous.

If it weren’t for the fact that 63M (?) people voted for Trump just 2.5 years ago I would have no hope.   But Is that really a sign of rebirth, or was it the death throes of our country?

“Testing whether any nation so conceived and so dedicated can long endure”…actually,  we’ve had a good long run for a form  of govt.  When we were birthed, France was still a monarchy, Germany didn’t exist, Engkand was in harness to its monarch who is now just a rosette on its lapel.

We DID endure long.  We had another good hundred years to go when Lincoln gave that speech.  But now we’re in decline.  Not because we didn’t succeed, but because we did.  And our people are bored with that.  Now they’re like the French aristocracy fêting the subversive, revolutionary intellectuals whose ideas contained the seed of their own bloody deaths.   Like a pampered wealthy adolescent who had had everything,  and could have anything, but whose only pleasure is is cutting and burning her own body.

No, I think it’s over.   My daughter and her peers will be “citizens of the world”. To call someone that used to be an accolade, a tribute to the person’s sophistication, but that was back when you had a choice about it, your own fortress wherein to take shelter.

    Millay’s poem Renascence  was prophetic:

“But East and West  will pinch the heart/That cannot keep them pushed apart./ And he whose soul is flat, the sky/Will cave in on him by and by.”

Whoa!  We just had an old American man posing as a tribal “elder” bellowing some primitive glossolalia  into the face of one of our children, and the media loooves  him.!

Say–what about that drum?  It better be made from the hide of a paleface, not some poor animal!   ….y’ever read about the universally practiced “buffalo jump” ?  Talk about cruelty to animals! It’s no wonder tha buffalo’s gone.
