Married in Vegas

I was reading about the selling of a wedding chapel in Vegas  for 12 million dollars.  Who gets married in Vegas and at a place called “A Little White Chapel”?  Famous people do and did tie the knot there in its 68 years of weddings. I was surprised by the first couple on the list of notables. The reason was that couple stayed together 50 years and were Hollywood A-Listers.

Would you ever get married in Vegas? Do you know of anyone who got married in Vegas?

  1. I had a friend whose sister was married in Vegas. It was awkward knowing what to say to someone who has one of these quickie weddings. You want to wish them luck but also want to find out why they did it. My friend was a little upset because it upstaged his college graduation.

  2. I married my mate at The Little Chapel of the West in Vegas.  Essentially we eloped, although later in life, to avoid all the family brouhaha.  Honeymooned at Zion Nat’l park.  Then we had a party at home to celebrate.  It was all perfect.  We have the VHS tape to prove it.

    How many years ago?

Was a spur of the moment thing? Did you tell anyone beforehand?

Is Dime going to marry 10cents there? You could definitely say that you married your best friend.

I don’t have enough money to rub two coins together, Richard.

It was 15 years ago.  Long story about how we came to marry relatively late in life.  It was no secret that we were going to Vegas.  We simply flew there and avoided all the wedding planning and associated inconveniences.  The party we had after our return was planned well ahead of time.

Well, it is nice to know someone came home from Las Vegas a winner, Trin.

I got a giggle out of this. My parents had planned one huge extravaganza for us in Michigan which I was totally excited for but my fiance and I were in LV two months before on business and I thought it would be “quirky” to have a ceremony at The Little Chapel, tell nobody, and continue on with the regularly planned events in MI.

My fiance put his foot down but I always thought it would have been fun to have two such diametrically opposed ceremonies. 🙂
