  1. Thank you for sharing your father with us, Richard.  This year marks the 15th year of my father’s passing.

    Great short video!

  2. Hi Richard,

My best friend (my dad) died nearly two years ago on 7/30. It was tough because I lost my greatest defender, the first person I told when I got into the college of my choice, received the first promotion I worked so hard for and the one my husband asked for my hand in marriage.

We were fortunate to live in the same city for two decades so attended dinner parties and political events and forums together. I won’t lie- I was the favorite and my father used to say all the time: “We just get along.”

We used to do father-daughter trips and our last was at the Big House in A2 where Michigan beat Wisconsin.  I learned so much about football and hockey from him; he taught me how to analyze the games on an intellectual level.

He was a great reader and so am I so we debated consistently about the most significant American war: I argued for the Revolution and he the Civil War. Now, there’s no one left with whom to have those debates and I miss him every single day.

  3. Here’s a note my father wrote me after I asked him if he had a copy of Memo 112 (6/9/64). It showed that his idea for Timation came in the Spring of 64 rather than in September. It’s a minor point but I was beginning to make my own discoveries about the origins of GPS.

  4. What wonderful memories. He made remarkable discoveries and yet in his note he sounds so humble too! Now that is admirable.

My dad would be 100 right now, and he was a terrific role model and inspiration as well. I miss him.  I see a lot of him in my brother and my son & it makes me really glad.

  5. Now you have me missing my Dad.

I wish you all well, and those of you who still have your Dad, give him a call.
