You Heard Me

This, I hope will be seen by  people not yet among our Mischief, not registered with us.  These are my opinions alone.  But if you are reading this, consider:

If reparations are to be paid to American Blacks of African descent,  the largest proportion of the payments should be made by the Portuguese, English, French, Dutch and Spanish,  who imported the  vast majority of their ancestors here against their will before the USA became a nation, and who were engaged in the African slave trade for over two centuries before our country existed.

“Why don’t you go back to Africa?” was, indeed a patently unjust taunt when directed at people, or descendants of people,  who were brought here against their will as slaves.

BUT: it is no more than a logical suggestion when directed at say, Ilhan Omar.  Her family came here voluntarily, beat down our door—like many Africans, a record number, are doing at our Southern border as I write.  Now she’s here,  she doesn’t like it.  Fine: so leave!  Why not?

And hey: in the process, you gotta admit there’s one great thing about the USA: we’ve got no walls, fences or gates keeping anyone in  here!

Lately she said “oh no, I love this country even more than people who were born here!”   Yuh.  Isn’t that a classic with abusers:  “I’m only hurting you for your own good, only because  I love you sooooo much….” ?

And, the unarguable point Trump was making is: Uh, given conditions in Somalia, she’s really in no credible position to wag a finger at the US.

Same with Tlaib.  If she’s so concerned with wrongs done her Palestinian grandma,  well, why not go live and agitate in Gaza, instead of calling our American president an unprintable name?

The presence of Rep Presley, an American black  whose name I had never heard before she appeared on TV with “The Squad”, obscures and complicates the issue of what the Leftist media is now calling the “Go back to Africa trope”.

But it’s the old Hitler smear:  just because Der Fuhrer was heard to utter “Geshundheit!” does not  mean that everyone who uses the expression now is a Nazi.

I say: follow your hearts, ladies!  And if they lead you outta the US, well: bon voyage!

  1. How about combining the two ideas? We should get reparations from the countries they came from?

I think the four are a bunch of whiners. They can’t handle a tweet so how do they expect to handle leadership. They sell newspapers so they are useful for now. Soon they will be forgotten like the anti war activists during the Time O.

I expect Americans to be made of sterner stuff.

And again, no culture/society in history is free of this crime. The U.S. should take some sense of pride in that we were the first to abolish slavery of our own will.

I know this is even too far for the Don to go, but somebody needs to call out “reparations” for what it really is: income re-distribution. Don’t we have enough of that already with all our entitlement programs?

  3. I wonder if the black ladies in this video want reparations? This was filmed this morning at the Women for Trump rally in the Philly suburbs by a friend of mine who posted it on FB. You’ll notice at least 3 black women in the crowd near my friend, in addition to Diamond & Silk who were onstage doing the closing cheer. You have GOT to watch till 0:54 to hear what one black woman says as she’s making her way through the crowd:

  5. hm, I wonder if the rest of you can see it, since it’s on my friend’s personal FB – anyway, Diamond & Silk lead everyone at the end in a raucous cheer, ‘we’re going to play the Trump card so we can win, win, win’ etc.,  and as the crowd disperses an older black woman – wearing a MAGA hat and a Trump tshirt – makes her way thru the crowd, and says enthusiastically, “Ain’t no place better than a Trump Train!!”

  6. I really give that ridiculously handsome Jesse Watters credit for discovering those two ladies! They fit in perfectly with the Trump train because they’re just as much fun to watch as the Don. 🙂

The Back-to-Africa movement, also known as the Colonization movement or After slave act, originated in the United States during the 19th century. It encouraged those of African descent to return to the African homelands of their ancestors. This movement would eventually inspire other movements, ranging from the Nation of Islam to the Rastafari movement and proved to be popular among African Americans.

    Not really!

Interestingly enough, few freed slaves took the U.S. govt up on that offer as they were well aware of the dangers of disease and had witnessed the advantages of living in a Western culture. Thus: Frederick Douglass, W.E.B. DuBois  and Booker T. Washington rose to influence and that then inspired ML King.

As Thomas Sowell writes, in the 1940s, integration in both housing and schools was not unusual in the North. Blacks were a definite minority and were anxious to assimilate in a primarily white society. The massive migration from the South post WWII created ghettos and anxiety particularly among established Northern blacks who were fearful of the repercussions those “badly behaved Africans” (his quote) would have on their personal opportunities.

What can I say? I wasn’t around then but Thomas Sowell was outraged that his future as a graduate of the infamous Stuyvesant school in NYC was compromised by outsiders. He was most probably thinking, “Why don’t you go back to the South?”

They are supposedly legislators.  Maybe they should try that job, instead of amoral instigators.

They were elected by Democrat low-information voters to represent Democrat safe districts as community organizers.   All they are there for is cheerleading for more free stuff.

They are the Intersectionality Squad; the Communist Vanguard of the Anti-America Party.

Exactly.   The Great Society amounts to reparations and has brought about a huge re-distribution of funds, but with so much counterproductive baggage that the situation facing black people in America got worse instead of better.

Are you being sarcastic?  I’m talking about Trumps latest remarks.  He didn’t say “go back to Africa” but he said of Cortez, Omar, Tlaib: “Go back to the countries you came from” which the leftist media immediately said was just like the old slur against blacks. I’m saying it isn’t.  Not at all.

I couldn’t see the Facebook page either, but I looked the event up, and it said they got about 600 women—in King of Prussia, PA!!!!  I think that was a fantastic turnout for that area, the Philadelphia Main Line!  I SO hope this movement prospers!

If you’re going to critique what the President says, you should quote what he actually said.

And everybody should listen to Scott Adams on this.

Simple: I misread the quoted passage.

Exactly. He didn’t say it. So why put it in quotes as if he had? Why promote the leftist narrative?

    Hypatia:
“Go back to the countries you came from”

And, of course, one of them does come from Somalia. And if she wants to help her people, she go back there to do that and return later. Why take the quote out of context?

Why don’t they go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came. Then come back and show us how it is done. These places need your help badly, you can’t leave fast enough. I’m sure that Nancy Pelosi would be very happy to quickly work out free travel arrangements!

It’s MSNBC-like behavior. Read the whole thing, for chrissake. It’s easy: just click on that underlined blue thingie.

And, btw, this is exactly the meaning of Trump’s tweet:

    GMTA, I guess.

  20. DrL, you seem to be responding as though I were calling Trump a racist.  I’m making the same point you are.   Didn’t you ever hear that people used to say to blacks,  why don’t you go back to Africa? And BTW in Omar’s case, that’s what it comes down to.  What I was sayin* was, just because it kinda echoes the old slur(by which I mean it sounds like it)  does NOT mean it isn’t merely logical and perfectly sensible when addressed to her.    I don’t get why you seem to have completely reversed my two points: I want this piece to be seen, and Trump is NOT “racist”.

By both whites and already established blacks!

BTW, Omar has no intention of returning to her native homeland; she’s on a mission.
