  1. I liked this article and I’m going to read it again, especially because it’s one of the only mildly  comprehensible things I’ve ever read about the Spanish Civil War.  But I still  wonder why so many people  from other countries went there to die!  Have you ever heard Viva La Quinta Brigada!?  About an Irish brigade all of whom died there?  Like they didn’t have enough trouble at home?

My husband says the triggering event for civil war on our country will be gun confiscation.  What do you think?

There are some values for which it is worth putting one’s life on the line; the right to bear arms is one of them. I suspect, though, that widespread violence will precede confiscation. To me, it feels like we are already on the very edge. If, as I hope and suspect, there are millions like me who are keeping quiet (except for letters of support sent directly to the President)( and blog posts) and patiently waiting to turn out in very large numbers to re-elect Trump, he is re-elected, that may just be the spark. I suspect the left will be explicitly threatening violence – if not already practicing it – going into the 2020 election season. Should we lose, I doubt the country can survive a hard-leftist presidency. If they win, they will likely use all Presidential and legislative power at their disposal to terminate any and all conservative views. That, too, could be the spark.

Speaking of sparks – this is just from today: Twitter blocked Mitch McConnell’s account after he posted a video of an Antifa member threatening to kill him. “Fairness” at work.

The social media companies (Google, Facebook, Twitter) are doing everything in their power to interfere with the upcoming election. Expect them to ramp up efforts next year. The Left won’t be able to use the FBI and FISA this time around. The only sliver of hope is that they are showing their hand a bit too early.

Regardless of the outcome of the 2020 election, the long-term outlook is bleak. But hey, no one promised it would last forever. All civilizations fall.

That would be high on the list.  Confiscatory taxes, such as Fauxahontas’ wealth tax, by the barrel of the government’s guns is next in line.  Remember when DHS bought so much hollow-point ammo that us poor citizens could barely find any for months?  They are ready.

When violence does erupt, and it’s only a matter of time, it will be in the cities first because that’s where all the commies live under failed governance.  We don’t go to Portland anymore to restaurants or to shop because it is already lost.  Too bad; it’s a pretty scenic place.

We’ll be in our wheeled home away from home in the wilderness when it hits the fan.

I’m not so sure anyone is going to follow orders to shoot at the citizenry. The gun barrels may be pointed the other way.

I agree completely, with one addition — that is, gun confiscation efforts would certainly do it, but I tend to believe it will be some damn fool thing on the border.

I would not count on this. The targets are going to be characterized as crazies and dehumanized such that even the strongest of MAGA types in the general government will be more than ecstatic to uphold the “rule of law.” No this is going to be a messy affair.

It’s hard to know which way it will break. Uncertainty is our friend. Government bureaucrats are not risk takers.
