    Not sure which one you consider “the original.” Early versions, like Leadbelly’s and Woody Guthrie’s, were more basic. It is, after all, a folk song. The Animals version is almost a different song since it’s more rock than folk. It’s apples and oranges.

    Pretty much every Bob Dylan song is better as a cover.

    That’s ’cause Dylan couldn’t carry a tune in a paper bag. But I still like his versions.

  7. I thought the Johnny Cash cover of “Hurt” was more raw and much more genuine than the original.

    Rodrigo y Gabriela have covered most of Metallica’s hits and did them much better.
