IG Reports Releases on Friday

This was over on Real Clear Politics.

Rep. John Ratcliffe, a member of the Judiciary, Intelligence, and Homeland Security Committees, told FNC’s Maria Bartiromo on “Sunday Morning Futures” that Attorney General William Barr has the report on FISA abuse during the 2016 election from the DOJ Inspector General and it will be released by Friday.

What do you think? Will this neutralize Shifty Schiff?

  1. The main reason I worry of a whitewash is that we have not seen any prosecution-requested reopenings or withdrawals or even  stays of cases. If the report said there were fraudulently-obtained warrants, the cases in which the warrants were used would have to be immediately addressed without waiting for the report to be published.

  2. Somebody is confused.

The asserted Friday event was the last Friday hearing with the ICIG about Ukraine-gate. Ratcliffe discussed the hypothetical release of that transcript, but no date.

Ratcliffe also mentioned, without specific date, Barr’s release of the DoJIG report on FISA abuse “in the next week or two “.

I didn’t check the headline out so you maybe right.

Yes I will be back by Friday.  But I’m sure the report won’t be out by then.    We have been promised it “in a week or two” for what, a year?

And why do we even expect anything, won’t this just be more of the same as when Barr let Comey walk?

    I want to believe!

Pessimism seems to be the most optimistic strategy.

  6. If it does get released on (any) Friday, that’s bad news.  That’s the traditional dumping ground when you want something to get ignored.

I’ll believe there’s a report when I see it.  Just like how Trump keeps saying he’s goinjg to declassify stuff.  Somehow it never happens.

I remember TKC saying he thought it was best to release later to cause more damage.

No that will look desperate and be treated as such.

I don’t think that sort of timing works on their side the way it has historically worked on our side.   Since mass media will be guaranteed to ignore any damaging reveals, our side will need lots of extra time while conservative niche media spread the word, and then weeks and weeks as conservatives inform the low-information voters who need to know.

The media used to hide things on weekends. Now we have the Internet and podcasts. The information gets spread.
