Who would believe this garbage?

Have you been watching the Trump coverage of CNN or MSNBC, or reading the New York Times and thought who actually believes this garbage? I mean it’s so blatant about their bias at this point that I figured even lefties knew it was crap right? Wrong. Now I try not argue about politics during Thanksgiving dinner but the hubs has this cousin who falls in line with every single leftist talking point. I usually call him out on his hypocrisy because he changes his views with as often as any other cable news channel does he has no self awareness, and has always been like that. What surprised me was that some in laws who were of the “moderate Democrat” type believed whatever CNN said about this impeachment accusation, too. That I’m supposed to believe all of the civil servants testifying against the president because they are good and honorable people. WHAT!!??? I remember a time when the left was dubious about authority now just because they have a job in the government they are the paragons of virtue. They sounded like every pundit Rush has in his media montages. I think my problem is I figured that most people had at least a modicum of curiosity or some BS detector. Nope, never underestimate the power of denial, especially when politics is your religion, and things aren’t going your way. The positive thing about this is that the brain dead leftists were the old folks. Rich, boomers actually. Sorry, boomers but the boomer stereotype exists for a reason. However, my hubby’s college aged cousins weren’t buying it. I think the kids are waking up.

    when politics is your religion

It is very good that you recognize the root of the problem.

Keep pushing back.   It is great for the kids to hear that the Leftist spin is incoherent, changing from topic to topic with no consistency, integrity or moral compass.

    This is crucial.

Arguing with Leftists in any venue, whether at a family gathering or on the internet, is very rarely about persuading the Leftist.   It is mostly for the sake of the bystanders and lurkers who need to hear that we have logic, science and compassion on our side, and that their side is a toxic brew of sham logic, sham science and sham compassion.

Especially compassion. At one point crazy lefty cousin said he was hoping the economy collapses. I said “Wow, nice thing to hope for especially as your cousin will be graduating college in the spring”

lefty cousin has a house in Ireland so I noted that he was able to escape. Unbelievable,

Ain’t nothing new with that. This is from Anna Karenina.

Stepan Arkadyevitch took in and read a liberal paper, not an extreme one, but one advocating the views held by the majority. And in spite of the fact that science, art, and politics had no special interest for him, he firmly held those views on all these subjects which were held by the majority and by his paper, and he only changed them when the majority changed them—or, more strictly speaking, he did not change them, but they imperceptibly changed of themselves within him.  — Leo Tolstoy

  5. There is a Russia narrative. It is basic to the war machine that has been part of America for a while now. the Ukraine narrative is very connected to the Russia narrative  Trump has a different thought about this and it is being heartily resisted.

Review the history of Ukraine SSR, Russia SSR, and Crimea. Review what the G.H.W. Bush administration, German representatives, and NATO told Russian leaders about the most geographically Eastern European countries after the breakup of the Soviet Union and the reunification of East and West Germany.

Now we have Vladimir Putin is the worst warmonger ever and our American government and its career civil servants have their Russia/Ukraine narrative.

This is how Trump and Putin get to be buddies.

  6. All it takes is one to believe one falsehood and then you build from there. That one falsehood is the foundation. Say one believes that Trump is a Russian asset, then it all makes sense. The election was stolen and Trump is an impostor.

  7. Let me throw in my observation from a big car show/ swap meet today: Several vendors had Keep America Great hats and  Trump 2020 flags, and they were selling. Never saw anything like that for Clinton, Bush, or Obama. At first I was taken aback a little, thinking maybe there is some cult of personality. But then I realized it’s more that people may be fired up by this impeachment crap.
