Black Prince, would you let us know some of the high points of the video since it is an hour long?

Well, the first three or four minutes from the point in the interview that I linked to in my post speaks directly to the title of my post—but the interview is basically about how China is America’s greatest foreign policy failure. Near the end Professor Waldron seems much more optimistic about the ultimate outcome of China (I do not share his optimism), but even he admits that a good outcome is far from certain and it will depend on whether America can handle the situation correctly. If it wasn’t for Trump, China wouldn’t even be on the radar—but we should be disengaging from China completely, not negotiating a fairer trade deal. The hypocrisy of America is truly stunning.

Isn’t this what President Trump has been doing?

We’re still “trading” with China with a massive imbalance:

Whenever I hear Trump talk about China, it’s always about “fair” trade, not total disengagement.

Agreed.   But until Trump upset the China trade deals, neither side was indicating any alarm.   Now, President Trump has over half of all conservative voters convinced that, not only is he on the right track, but that he needs to strike an even harder position with China.

That is huge progress.   You might even say Yuge.

And the Fat Lady has not yet sung.

My recommendation is for you to send a note to your congressman to say that America needs to get tough with China, and you want him to support and encourage President Trump in his negotiations.

I think it is very significant that no trade agreement has been reached with China. President Trump has China right where he wants China at this time.

I sincerely hope that is the case, but I’m just not sure if it means what we hope it means.

And where exactly would that be? I think that America seriously overestimates its strength and seriously underestimates China’s—this will prove to be a fatal error. Hubris, thy name is America! I believe that China’s strategy is to sit out the Trump presidency without rocking the boat too much and then go back to business as usual once Trump is gone—conservatives will be just fine with that.

…encourage President Trump in his negotiations.

I totally disagree with this. We should break off negotiations immediately and disengage with China completely. I know this will never happen because we’ve all been bought off by China. It’s a pathetic end for such a (formally) great country. Oh well, empires rise and fall…it’ll all be history soon enough.
