TOTD 2019-12-25: Christmas Roll Call

Merry Christmas to all!

I am in the Land of the Rising Sun and everything is on a regular schedule. The country will shut down in a week for the New Year holiday. Only Ebenezer Scrooge would make a person work on New Year’s Day.

I know everyone is busy but if you get time share a few words.

  1. It’s 9:50 PM here and I have had a busy day!  Dec 24 is my husband’s birthday and there are really no restaurants around here, so I host  a birthday lunch for him on Christmas Eve.  At noon, so everybody can get back to their own commitments. I served a turducken.  Anybody ever cook one of those suckers? And stewed sweet corn, our family tradition. And last night I made the dessert: a Tarte Tatin.
Then, my sister and her bf arrived, and tonight we had a Scottish dinner: cock-a-leekie soup, haggis (vegetarian, for my daughter’s sake; it really tastes just the same) and neeps ‘n’ tatties.

Imna make up a stocking for my daughter (yuh, even though she’s a second year law student!) and I have just a few things to wrap.  This is it!  Unlike when I was a kid and I wanted Christmas morning to arrive, now I wish I could just tarry here, on the Eve.

Thanks, Soxy, for asking us to share tonight.  Merry Christmas to you,and to all of you, O Ratty!

  2. Merry Christmas to all in Ratville!  This community has given me so much in this last year.  Best wishes for a blessed season! I got rid of the Grinch, so we’re all safe.

  3. In my checkered employment history I’ve worked  on every U.S. holiday except the 4th of July. I’m not sure about Japanese holidays — i.e. Godzilla’s Birthday, etc. but I probably worked those as well.

    Merry Christmas fuzz face.

Unc Ace, thank you for the Build the Wall set and Risk: The Impeachment Edition. I have never played a board game with loaded dice! I think you misunderstood when I asked for a drone with a camera I didn’t want a CNN box DVD set.

  5. I am off to take Snooks to church, where she will accompany the 11:00 pm Christmas Eve worship.

We will try not to run over any deer, or Santa, on our way home afterwards.

    Merry Christmas, Ratburghers !

  6. Hi I just finished wrapping haha some things never change. But other things do- it seems odd to have no children’s stockings here because my son has taken possession of his own stocking and I mailed off my daughter’s a while ago. Christmas is another work day for her.

Good night. God bless us every one.

  7. When I was a pharmacy tech at Children’s Hospital in the 1980s, I volunteered to work on Thanksgiving and Christmas.  Double time pay, and I was off at 3:30PM, well in time to go to hubby’s parents for dinner.  Now, Ray and I are in aerospace, which gets off between Christmas and New Years every year.  We both took this entire week off.   It’s just the two of us tomorrow, and I got all his stuff wrapped yesterday.

    Merry Christmas to everyone!

  8. I am in Dallas, visiting my oldest, his wife, and my first grandchild. I am a morning person, and have been up for the last 2-1/2 hours doing what I like best, writing, while everyone else is still asleep.  (Working on a book about US destroyer escorts, and describing the boarding of U-505 for the artist’s brief.) When they get up, and after my other two sons (and other daughter-in-law) arrive we will open presents.
