See How Well It Works (II)

Oh, no Nono, I can barely stand it! Ok, I just read that Meghan signed a deal with Disney before or at the time she and Hapless Hal announced their fleeing the palace coop. But whatever the venture is, she’s giving all the profits from it to a worthy cause: (Wait for it..):
Elephants Without Borders.

Morganatic Meg: I’m giving my money to Elephants Without Borders!

Us: That’s …nice! But, uh, elephants don’t respect borders now, do they? They don’t, as far as we can tell, even know borders exist. They don’t need, like a passport or anything, if they happen to rampage across a jungly, remote border between two benighted states on the Dark Continent.

Morganatic Meghan: See how well it works?!?

I’m shocked- just shocked to hear this news. <snark>

To somebody’s point on your last post, this desertion must have been in the works for awhile and no announcement was made until the t’s were crossed and the i’s were dotted on the contract.

  2. I have always admired Queen Elizabeth II.   She is a class act, and it seems to me she was sort of confined by unfortunate circumstances when she chose Phillip.  She was supposed to confine her choices to eligible Royal suitors, and the pickings were slim at the time.

Charles was not nearly so confined, but managed to boob up the entire royal family.

William seems to have done much better than his father.   Kate seems to be a big improvement in family fortunes.

Aren’t we all hoping that Elizabeth outlives Charles?

Poor young George.   What a dysfunctional family.

Indeedy.  I nursed a faint hope that QEII would somehow pass power to William directly; I am ignorant of the hurdles it would have to pass.

I now suspect that instead, the people of Britain are biding Elizabeth’s time, and may pitch the whole sorry spectacle once she has gone.

I agree with this because the Queen simply did not marry well. She married a boor and a bully who raised intimidated sons.

She, on the other hand, was fortunate to be raised by George VI who was a fine man and patriot but died too soon. Out of the four brothers, he never commanded respect (even by his own mother) but England was so fortunate to have him at Buckingham during WWII. Churchill loved him and they formed a close and productive relationship.

As an aside, he married a strong and supportive woman as well.
