  1. He’s not a statue, but I see Mike Adams is leaving his supposedly tenured professorship at University of North Carolina-Wilmington.  I used to read his stuff a lot and did not stop on purpose, just wandered away from Town Hall. I was always astonished at his fearlessness.

Googling him last night I came upon his pretty funny Twitter page, and also Rush Limbaugh reading a very funny and very angry letter Adams wrote to a colleague who had described Adams as an embarrassment to the UNC system. Adams’s unpardonable faux pas, to his colleague, was to express that marriage was between a man and a woman.

So apparently they finally got to him.

I think he decided it wasn’t worth the headache to continue teaching. Believe it our not, I think UNC-W was more liberal than the flagship in Chapel Hell for a while. I can’t believe he stuck it out this long. UNC ruins everything they touch, including my hospital/place of employment.

Yeah, even if he has tenure the university can make working there Hell for him. We have friends whose kids attend UNC-W and it’s definitely more liberal than Chapel Hill.

Blondie, you must hate seeing the UNC REX commercials during the Canes games.

I’ve hated seeing UNC put in front of Rex since they started doing it, especially since I’ve worked at Rex for 30 years.

    He enjoys being the gadfly.

He won his 2014 lawsuit, so the University settled this time.

Well I am glad he is getting something out of the deal. But the disruption and hurt feelings yadda yadda are not caused by him. They are from the people trying to shut him up. A Marxist professor with similar loudmouth antics would be celebrated- but a conservative can’t be tolerated.

If you are going to offend  go large or go home.

If I was to risk my livelihood over that message. I would have posted

    “White Lives Matter Too “

I think it’s funny that the mayor inadvertently spread the message with his tweet: Streisand Effect. That tweet is getting ratioed. The replies are savage.

  9. Have the brains been lockdowned too?

I am afraid these thoughts are the product of higher* education.

  10. John Walker, unfortunately, I want to request that you pin this post up at the top of the home page alongside the post for Covid 19 Updates.

On Wednesday, protesters wrecked a statue of Philadelphia abolitionist and philanthropist Matthias Baldwin. They defaced the face of the statue, covered it in paint, and scrawled the word “colonizer” on the sculpture’s pedestal.

There was also apparently an attempt to topple the statue….

“He hired blacks in his shops when that was not the norm,” said Joe Walsh, a member of the Friends of Matthias Baldwin Park, in an email to National Review. “He was BLM [Black Lives Matter] before there was a slogan.”

‘The irony of vandalizing a monument to those who died to end slavery is lost on the morons who don’t know their history,” he added.

I truly don’t understand the desire to wallow in misery. It’s not as if anything here is actionable. Instead, it’s no longer even news. There are five pages of comments with dozens of examples of essentially the same thing, repeated over and over. There’s a whiff of masochism in the air.

This post has become a useful catalog of the many instances of crazy that is part of the George Floyd Riots phenomenon.  Three months from now Leftists will be saying there were only a handful of statues torn down, and they will believe it because this stuff does not get covered by the Legacy Media that Leftists use as “information” sources.  I think I foresee occasions on which I will want to refer back to this Gallery of Destruction.

Also, keeping it pinned would make it easier to add to the catalog as these acts of Political Violence continue.

I think it’s also valuable as these stories have mostly already scrolled off the mainstream media, and can now mostly be found only by the few remaining voices of sanity on Twitter posting links to articles in local media.  It’s a reminder that the cultural revolution, like the nightly riots in Portland, is not something that happened some weeks ago, but is ongoing.

  14. West Kendall (Dade County), Florida: Jesus Christ

    Breitbart News reports:

The desecration is the latest attack on statues of Catholic Church figures.

The Chattanooga Police Department is probing the recent beheading of a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary at the St. Stephen Catholic Church. As Breitbart News previously reported, two monuments depicting the Virgin Mary were vandalized in Queens, New York City, and Boston, Massachusetts. On Wednesday, a group of Catholics in Boston held a vigil to pray the Rosary at the site of a Virgin Mary statue that had been set on fire.
