Gearing up

We went to the grand opening of the Trump  2020 HQ in our county seat today, and stocked up on a whole buncha swag: hats, t-shirts, lawn signs , flags.  It’s right on  Courthouse Square, which I wish I had taken a picture of today, because I can’t imagine it’ll look this way much longer—it truly is a beautiful little municipal space. Well: carpe diem….

I turned around in the street to take in the scene, and punched my fist in the air, and a chubby ( well, pretty much everybody is: this is NEPA; the three  ladies keeping track of the donations all looked like Mrs. Santa Claus) MAGA hat-wearing man beside me said: “Everybody on OUR side is so enthusiastic! And Biden has NO enthusiasm at al!”  “That’s  RIGHT! “ I responded. “Go Trump!  And good luck to YOU, sir!”  I replied—and we actually……shook hands!

God save our country, God prosper our Don!

The thing is that we NEED to start thinking now about 2024. Trump needs a Republican successor, not a demon-crat.

I will start thinking about 2024 in 2021.

  2. That’s a cheery mental picture, Hyp.

I am feeling awfully discouraged by my younger sister’s volunteering via text that she applauds the Lincoln Project. Which I hadn’t heard of till she said that. It’s neverTrump and nothing but neverTrump and on purely personal vitriolic dislike grounds. I thought my sister had a lick of sense. I answered “Why? And, who are you and what have you done with my sister?” Haven’t heard back yet. But if she’s voting for Biden I am worried. And if she thought it was a good idea to mention it to me I’m worried.  She did not seem to expect I would agree….but said it anyway, bringing it up out of the blue. So it comes across that she was sort of belligerently staking out her turf and almost picking a fight. This is a first, she doesn’t do that.

Senator Rick Scott. I’ll vouch for him; he is not only a family friend but a very talented economist and successful billionaire. Good friend of Trump’s as well.

You know I only vote for entrepreneurs because they’re exceptionally knowledgeable and connected. We have the executive and legislative branches at the state level to handle the rest.

I’m not optimistic either,  Jojo.  It was just nice to see Trump supporters in the flesh , as satisfying as our cyber-fellowship here is. Dems are covering ALL bases now:  The polls look good but don’t be complacent! It’s really Jared Kushner who’s running everything! (Altho Trump is an anti-Semite..)  And the GOP?  They do not WANT to win, they never did!  In 2016 we swept it all, and what did they do?  Start resigning in droves. What Trump has done, he has had to do all alone.   Every single thing he does do is picked apart and subject to wattle-wobbling and chin-stroking by members of his own party (cue the Lincoln Project)—while the Dems openly encourage their foot soldiers to riot.  About everything.

    B. Hussein did too much damage.  Everybody laughed when he said “You didn’t build that.”; now, I’d say it’s the informal motto of our country.  We need one: we are no longer allowed to call ourselves Land of the Free or Land of Opportunity.

Nothing people accomplish or have can be viewed as related to their own desert.  Merit itself is a suspect concept now.

So no. I’m not  really “cheery” about the 2020 election.  I hope a backlash is building but I doubt I’ll live long enough to hear that whip crack.
