Well over 90% of sexually active adults have, or at sometime had, human papilloma virus (HPV) infection. It’s often minimally or non- symptomatic. It often clears up in its own, but it is one of those viruses like herpes which never leaves the body once you’ve hosted it.
Some of those women also get cervical cancer. Some of those men get throat cancer. Most do not, or the death rates of these cancers would be astronomically high.
What if every person who dies in US gets posthumously tested for HPV, and if they test positive, which is very likely, HPV Is reported as the cause of death?
(Great news if you own stock in Merck, maker of Gardasil , a painful two stage injection which, of course, doesn’t protect against all strains of HPV….)
