  1. The book I just read, by Shellenberger, Apocalypse Never,  says the rain forests are NOT the lungs of the planet.  Plants have to take  in oxygen too, for “respiration”, that’s how they get Energy for their cells.  Or maybe Oxygen just Passes thru em?  Whatever, he says the Oxygen they remove about equals the oxygen they put out, so it’s a wash.

This is the true truth.  Rainforest (hey…jungle) photosynthesis when the sun is up is almost exactly balanced by photorespiration when the sun is down.  The legitimate net source of the Earth’s oxygen is  a vast swath of northwest Pacific Ocean, Sea of Okhotsk to the Bering Sea, then petering out toward the Gulf of Alaska; buncha icky green water.   As the Arctic catastrophically warms, critically endangering all life on Earth UNLESS WE DO SOMETHING huge, expensive, and stupid…breathe easy.

The Media must be read inversely.  Consider Floyd George sacred national anarchism versus empirical reality,

… Floyd’s DOA blood work, at the bottom, reads like a locked cabinet pharmacy inventory.

  3. Isn’t that incredible?  Until I read this book,  I thought, like: plants “eat” CO2 and fart out O.    Whereas we boorish subjects of the animal kingdom just gluttonously  suck up all the  O, and worse, everything we do generates CO2.
Well!  Y’know, if plants ain’t so good, maybe we animals ain’t so bad…?

They do that, but only while the sun is shining.

    True and true.

There is a really complicated cycle of atmospheric interactions with the flora and fauna on Earth.  It is very hard to model.

Models were required, however.  If we didn’t have Models, we would have a hard time stirring up mass hysteria and defending the fearmongering with appeals to the authority of the Models.
