Musings on The Weakness Of Elites

We stand at a crossroads as a country with a distinct fork in the road ahead . When confronted with such a situation, Americans often heed the sage advice of Yogi Berra, the Philosopher “When you come to a fork in the road, take it”. A comic wit added “You never know when you might need a fork…”

For reasons known only to themselves, our elite class decided that the american middle class was not worth lording over, to expensive, too free, too unpredictable and so they decided to reduce us to worthless lotus eaters who are divided by gender, race, religion and values and replace us with better educated, striving overseas labor who worked for less and could be ruled by force.

The plan was on track since the 1970s.

It was a damn good and profitable racket and the ruling class did very well without actually doing much of anything. Progress stopped in many sectors, space , winning wars, education levels of the populace , infrastructure and more.

2016 stalled the inevitable plan.

An outsider decided the game was rigged and the people behind it were not all that capable, unlike their forebears. Applying a few rules of marketing and persuasion coupled with a mastery of the televised story, he assembled a rough majority of the remnants of the working and middle class and threw a wrench in the works.

We are now in a face off and we are all about to find out which side wins. The elites and the groups they have paid off or the rest of us.

There is no middle, no undecided. Political pacifism is not longer recognized, a luxury of a stable system where either side left you mostly alone to get on with your life.

Both sides in this fight face extinction. Such battles tend to be bloody.

As I look outside at masked souls wandering through fire wracked air I wonder who wants a better life than the version the elites have dealt out?

I remain an optimist as that as evil as the opposition is, it may have power and money but I do not see winners over there. I see people fighting not to lose, desperately and without much forethought. They squander credibility with abandon, not realizing that generations of their predecessor elites took decades to built that credibility up.

I wonder if any of them envision the world they will win if they succeed, and wonder if it will be worth the effort. Their footsoldiers will be destroyed, the middle ranks will be managed by fear and the rulers will be in perpetual internecine warfare to stay on top.

Does a Peter Strock have the awareness to realize that under Hillary he would have had a convenient accident as his knowledge was dangerous to her?

There is clever and there is wise. Too much clever on the other side.

  1. After Slow Joe Biden wins all 50 states by resounding majorities, the Left will purge.
On the upside, the rest of us will not need to aim much.

That is another thing that grates.  The Left advocates the same policies that destroyed Venezuela, but somehow expect a good outcome.  After they have killed off the golden goose, the bloodletting in the fight for the remaining golden eggs will consume them.

  4. The elites, the ruling class, the political class: call ’em what you like but one thing that has become clear is that they are stupid and feckless, besides being mendacious and underhanded. This is both good and bad news.

It’s good because everyone can now see them for the malicious, inept liars they are. It’s bad because there’s nobody at the tiller who knows how to steer the boat. Sure, we’re all rugged individualists who don’t need leaders. Except we do, in the sense that a complex society needs order, organization, and coordination to run smoothly. We’re no longer just a small band of hunter-gatherers roaming the savanna eating grubs and hunting wildebeest.

As I write this, there are wildfires all over the West Coast. Some cities have also been burning, sporadically, for many weeks. The power grid in California stressed to the limit. These are all caused by failures of leadership and all those rugged individualists couldn’t do too much about those failures.

Trump will be gone from office one day. Whether it happens in 2021 or 2025 matters in the short term but not for long. The most hopeful thing one can say about a Trump victory in November is that it might delay the day of reckoning. We’ll encounter the real fork in the road after he’s gone. That’s when the country will have to make some choices about immigration, race, and a vision of the future. Are we to follow the path of Balkanization and tribalism or the path of liberty and the common good for all Americans? The road ahead is unclear.

I’m less than enamored of the left/right dichotomy. The ugly reality is there are plenty of self-serving, dishonest elites on the right who are all to happy to go along to get along. Most Republican politicians are part of the controlled opposition: ornaments on the Left’s bandwagon. As Michael Malice likes to say, “conservatism is progressivism driving the speed limit.” They’re both headed in the same direction but only one of them has the pedal to the metal. If I see another the conservative case for….

I disagree.  DemSoc plans Amerizuela during their perpetual hegemony.  The Clinton Foundation, Obamanation, Nasty Pelosi, and George Soros + Bill Gates are immiscible.  Operation Hummingbird for the Muslims and  Night of the Long Knives For DemSoc.  Names make it gentler.  Finally Soros vs. Gates vs. Clinton.  After sewers clot, Blacks will be back in chains as a universal outcome.  My bet is on the Clinton Foundation – practiced in the art and borderlessly for lease.

Moscow, Vatican City, or Palace of Freedom, wise philosopher-kings will plead poverty while cutting throats.

Oh, I agree that there are some scurvy visionaries on the Left who clearly see that the collapse of western civilization will result in violent deaths for millions of persons globally.

But the ones who are writing the apologies for the Left in mass media are useful idiots who blithely anticipate socialist utopia.

And the “Center-Right” is still waving away the clear signs that we are approaching the precipice.   They are deliberately, willfully, ignorant because they want to be ignorant.  If they recognized the true shape of our situation, they would have to say things that would end their invitations to the right dinner parties.

Over at the American Conservative there was a piece titled the Conservative Case for the Black National Anthem.

I am in favor of the “Black National Anthem.”  That is a nickname that was given nearly a century ago to the hymn “Lift Every Voice and Sing.”  It celebrates Liberty, acknowledges that Liberty is won through difficult struggle, and endorses Liberty as pleasing to God.

If anyone is actually listening to the lyrics, that is a good thing.

    Lift Every Voice and Sing
    By James Weldon Johnson

    Lift every voice and sing
    Till earth and heaven ring,
    Ring with the harmonies of Liberty;
    Let our rejoicing rise
    High as the listening skies,
Let it resound loud as the rolling sea.
Sing a song full of the faith that the dark past has taught us,
Sing a song full of the hope that the present has brought us,
Facing the rising sun of our new day begun
Let us march on till victory is won.

    Stony the road we trod,
    Bitter the chastening rod,
    Felt in the days when hope unborn had died;
    Yet with a steady beat,
    Have not our weary feet
Come to the place for which our fathers sighed?
We have come over a way that with tears has been watered,
We have come, treading our path through the blood of the slaughtered,
    Out from the gloomy past,
Till now we stand at last
Where the white gleam of our bright star is cast.

    God of our weary years,
    God of our silent tears,
    Thou who has brought us thus far on the way;
Thou who has by Thy might Led us into the light,
Keep us forever in the path, we pray.
Lest our feet stray from the places, our God, where we met Thee,
    Lest, our hearts drunk with the wine of the world, we forget Thee;
    Shadowed beneath Thy hand,
    May we forever stand.
    True to our God,
    True to our native land.

How do you feel about having a White National Anthem? And I don’t mean the Star Spangled Banner. What about a Latino National Anthem? Even the wanker at American Conservative mentions this. I don’t give a rat’s patootie if the hymn celebrates God or Satan; neither can redeem it. And, btw, where is there any mention of anything whatsoever to do with the United States? What kind of friggin’ national anthem is that? Pfft.

This is precisely the Balkanization I mentioned in comment #4. No, it’s not a good thing. It’s a supremely dumb thing that will contribute to ending the Republic.

  13. The “Black National Anthem” is not a national anthem at all.  It is a hymn.

I don’t know how it came by that nickname, but it has been popular in black Christian congregations for several generations.

It is in our hymnal and we sing it sometimes.  We don’t associate any political meaning with it.

But now it is quickly acquiring political baggage.  I suppose I will have to bring it up at Elders; we may need to write a note about this hymn for the worship bulletin the next time we sing it.

    The Left ruins everything.

That’s the point, isn’t it? This thing is called the Black National Anthem for a reason. And that cuck over at American Cuckservative is defending the practice of trying to replace the national anthem of the United States with something else for blacks. Despicable.

  15. For reasons known only to themselves, our elite class decided that the american middle class was not worth lording over …

It is indeed an intriguing question as to what the Best & Brightest thought they were doing?  I suspect the answer is that they had not actually thought things through — and thus were easily manipulated by people who did know what they were doing.  FDR’s Administration was riddled with Communists — that is now established beyond any debate.  Originally, those Communists were actively assisting the USSR.  There are grounds for reasonable suspicion that China has taken over that position since the Soviet collapse.

I am re-reading Sun Tzu’s ancient classic “The Art of War“, where the Master makes the point repeatedly that the objective is to Win Without Fighting.

The US in particular (and the West more generally) has taken the wrong fork in the road twice since WWII, or more accurately since the 1970s.  The first was the dumbing down of education, transforming it into Leftie indoctrination.  Second was the transfer of  most manufacturing capabilities to China.  If China’s leaders aim is to establish a world in which China is #1 and everyone else respectfully knows their subordinate place, getting our Betters to make those two giant blunders must be counted as a major step towards “Winning Without Fighting”.

It is always unclear. If you ever think it is clear, stop yourself and realize you are engaging in foolish behavior.

We are lucky to see the next bend in the road.

The main thing Trump is doing is creating a new coalition of working and private sector middle class workers with families and ambition. Like FDR, it will drive his successors if  he can expand it in 2020. That will be his legacy and impact.

Whoever succeeds him will adapt to that coalition.

America always follows a change leader with a succession of caretakers, then grifting caretakers then fools.

Ok, how about this: the road is less clear than usual. If you thought I meant anything else, you’re a binary thinker. Road clarity has gradations.

Trump is an outlier phenomenon. When he’s gone there will be a vacuum that will most likely be filled by another interchangeable member of the political class of either party. To avoid further confusion, I emphasized those two words.

If Trump loses in November, the “change leader” will not be followed by a caretaker. Biden will be a puppet of the hard Left who will try to resume the remaking of the US begun by Obama. If Trump gets another term, he will likely be succeeded by a Democrat; that has been the dominant historical pattern. Even if it were a Republican, chances are it would be from the ranks of Conservative Inc.

While it’s possible that a new crop of political leaders on the Right will emerge victorious, that’s not the way to bet. They are thin on the ground right now and all the forces of the culture are arrayed against them. Politics is downstream from culture. Changes in the culture happen over generations, not years.

Did not mean to disparage, only to expand the conversation. Is a binary thinker some gender diversity category?

Politicians being what they are and donors being what they are , if Trump wins the coalition he builds will have legs and I do not see a return to the old political class but a new one. The media empires are losing value, the tech giants bet on globalization and will find themselves less welcome in a world of nationalists. New donor classes will emerge around education and space resource exploitation as the focus shifts.

If Trump loses we enter the darkness.  Civil war is the sunny potential.

We may get at least one post Trump successor term before the rot sets in. That electoral coalition and a new source of prosperity will drive the game, just like the tech giants and global financial wizards did the last one.

I’m pretty certain this sentiment was held by many after Reagan, especially after GHW Bush won in 88. However, anyone who is honest with themselves know that Bush was just a reversion back to Rockefeller Replublicanism only with the slick ability to speak Conservative. There will be no paradigm shift in the GOP after. Trump. Look who is running the RNC now: Mitt “Pierre Delecto” Romney’s daughter. Doesn’t the president usually get to pick the leader of the Party? Trump is a storm to weathered until the whores for the Chamber of Commerce and the defense industry and the banksters get back in control.

What is the beef with Ronna Romney McDaniel?  (Mitt’s niece, not daughter.)  She has done pretty well, followed the lead from the White House, criticized Mitt gently, criticized Justin Amash and helped usher him in the direction of the exit.  The big GOP donors return her calls, which is the chief qualification for her position.

I’m sorry but once Benedict makes himself known, you don’t hand over a corps to his niece (or daughter). Perhaps she has done a good job because Trump actually over shadows the screw ups. Where is the Party backing up Trump on the animals creating all this racial strife? Where is the Party on making the case that COVID has been blown way out of proportion? Hell where is the Party on anything? If you ask me this is very similar to a team with the lead and less than a minute to play kneeling the ball. They are waiting out the clock expecting Trump to lose. No the GOP head should be Don Jr or someone who is willing to synchronize the GOP machine with the President. Instead we have stories of GOP candidates running from Trump (gee so typical for the GOP).

  22. A decade from now, it will not matter who won the 2020 election.  Our weak elites have had half a century to put the country into a position from which there is no graceful exit.  The Gods of the Financial Copybook Headings will have the last words — and it is probably going to sound something like “Go to Hell”.

Pension obligations cannot be met.  Federal, State, City debts will not be repaid.  The overhead is too high, and will be cut one way or another.  China will someday stop sending the US real goods in exchange for worthless IOUs — and Walmart will have nothing but empty shelves.

There is an obvious way forward after the inevitable economic collapse.  Kill all the lawyers;  roll back most regulations;  rebuild education; fire most of the bureaucrats; drastically reduce the scope of government, especially at the Federal level (if that still exists);  put a wooden stake through the heart of evil unilateral “Free Trade” and return to financing government services largely through import tariffs.  Slowly, those kinds of actions will rebuild the miserable living standards after the collapse.  After another half century, things might start to look quite good again.   But first we have to claw power out of the cold dead fingers of today’s elites.

There are 10 kinds of people in the world: those who understand binary and those who don’t.

Likewise, some things are binary and some aren’t. ‘A’ and ‘not A’ are mutually exclusive, whereas ‘tall’ and ‘short’ lie on a continuum with no sharp boundary. So it is with the road ahead.

Languages have genders; people have sexes. Since you asked, there are more than two biological sexes among humans. The rare ones, such as Klinefelter syndrome, are considered disorders. That’s not what the Wokerati are screaming about.
