NFL Franchises

So tonight I’m gearing up to watch Tom Terrific and the Gronk play their first 2020 game against the Saints as Bucs.

I’m saddened. NFL owners don’t understand their fans in the least; we don’t like the breakdown of our favorite franchises. I can’t imagine Brady without McDaniels or Belichick. I will say that Cam Newton was a good choice and I may learn to love him as I do TT. We’ll watch and see.

A shout out to the Steinbrenner family who understands this. Jeter and Rivera are gone but the franchise didn’t waste a NY minute replacing them with great talent… but not before they left. This made Yankee fans happy with:

Giancarlo Stanton
Gary Sanchez
Aroldis Chapman
DJ LeMahieu
Gleyber Torres
Aaron Judge
Gerrit Cole

I’m walking on pins and needles tonight. Despite it all, I want my two favorite players in the NFL to do well tonight.

  1. To paraphrase Chief Joseph, I will watch the NFL no more forever. They have been clear about their contempt for the Flag and what it represents, for the police and for former fans like me. I’d watch tag team oven cleaning before wasting another nanosecond on those preening jackwagons. May they pound salt down the bottomless rat hole of oblivion till the end of time.

I’ve cancelled cable and no longer listen to any sports talk radio. The only sports website I visit is Outkick.com, mostly because they make fun of all the other woke sites.

  2. Again, I think differently. I don’t care about moronic displays of “woke” behavior. I love the game and so do these players. I am patiently waiting for them to realize the financial ramifications of their actions and the simple fact that they are jeopardizing only themselves.

    Chill you guys.

  3. P.S. Colin Kaepernick is a free agent and will remain so. There isn’t an agent in the NFL who would touch him with a ten ft. pole. Granted, not a great talent to begin with and not very intelligent but do not think other agents won’t get their clients under control because they will.

Those guys rule the universe. Just re-watch “Jerry Maguire” if you don’t believe me or have a chat with Jordan’s man David Falk.

  4. Some principles are worth not ‘chilling’ over. You watch, you are voting your support (ratings) for what is being broadcast into your home. The only votes the NFL values are $$$. They will get NONE of those through me, ever again. They deserve to collapse, along with the droves of millionaire players who hate me for simply who I am (and they would be justified in dis-ing me more for being a chump and continuing to send them my money). I, on the other hand, now despise them, but it is for what they do, not who they are.

Gallop poll recently showed that sports industry is very disliked among those Americans polled.

    Pffft… Until it’s not.

As an aside, I did ask you politely to disengage from anything I post. Pls try to acknowledge my request.

    Let me see now…

    1. No Facebook or Zoom or Silicon Valley because of their politics.

    2. Now no professional sports?!!!

Don’t complain to me about fascism; these endless ‘boycotts’ embody everything that I despise. Get a life dude and when and if you do, try enjoying it.

  7. Shocking news! There is more to having a life than facedrek, flume, silicone valley and profershonal sports. (There is also more to it than reporting only one’s capital gains and never one’s losses). I am voluntarily joining McReynolds. ten four.

Fight, fight!  Love it!  Early hits, late hits, no-hitters and all such are welcome!

  10. ET:  “I am patiently waiting for them to realize the financial ramifications of their actions …

Think about this logically.  If every sports fan keeps on buying tickets and watching the games, there will be NO financial ramifications.

One could continue to enjoy the games oneself while depending on other people to take on the burden of foregoing their sports fix.  But that could reasonably be described as “free-riding”.

You continue to watch no matter how much the players insult you.

I think the owners understand you perfectly.

to disengage from anything I post.

Can you hear your own thoughts in your head?  This is absolutely outrageous.  It’s like asking him to get off the public sidewalk so your precious eyes won’t be harmed by his visage as you walk by.  If you post on Ratburger, other Ratburgers get to comment.  You don’t get to censor us.  That’s a privilege exercised only by John and Dime.

I’m not censoring anyone; say what you want but not on my post. Insults and unnecessary snark are just that and have nothing to do with debate or conversation which is what I thought this site was supposed to encourage.

What is truly outrageous is that I write a perfectly innocent post about a football game and get jumped on as if I had endorsed Kamala Harris for president. Lighten up!

But everybody isn’t. There are several men on this site alone who refuse to watch the game again. I just don’t care because I”ve had it with politics.

P.S. While we’re at it, we should never watch a movie again because Hollywood is so out of touch. I don’t care about that either; I feel sorry for ignoramuses.

  16. ET — Serious request for clarification.  What is your view on the price Woke sports imposes on you as an individual?

    1. Are you personally happy to be insulted for the rest of your life by anti-American millionaire players taking your hard-earned money while falsely accusing you of being a vile racist, just so that you can continue to watch them play?

    2. Do you hope that the millionaires’ insults are a temporary aberration which you will endure while waiting for other people to correct the situation by withdrawing their custom from the millionaires?

To mangle Trotsky —  you may not be interested in politics, ET, but politics is interested in you.

  17. I don’t take it so seriously; there are such dreadful things going on in this world, I ain’t giving up simple pleasures. I do wish people would stop complaining about salaries, though. Fans will support those and if the money gets threatened, the disrespectful behavior will decline. The agents will see to that!

Pls quote me accurately or not at all. I do care about politics and worked for the Trump campaign in Jax and will continue to do so. What did you do for the Don other than bitch on a web site?

What I said is “I’m tired of politics” and need a break at times to watch TV, see a movie, watch a game and live a normal life without allowing it to envelop my entire world.

  18. ET:  “Pls quote me accurately or not at all.”

I am not sure to what you are referring, ET.  You will notice that I did not quote you at all.

Now, if Leon Trotsky’s ghost wants to berate me for mangling his famous quotation about war (with which you are undoubtedly very familiar, ET), then I will bow my head and take my punishment like a man —  I did not even write it in Russian!

  19. “you may not be interested in politics, ET…”

If you didn’t “quote me,” you certainly made an assumption which is even more egregious. I just refuse to let the Swamp ruin my entire life. You and your cohorts seem almost gleeful to do nothing but criticize, complain, and whine about everything.

And my favorite is your obsession with donut makers. I barely remember Bible school as a kid but your comments remind me of the scene:

Image result for scene in the Bible about money changers

And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the money changers, and the seats of them that sold doves, And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.

I do not live in your unhappy world and suppose I am damned because I do not associate money with theft.

I JUST WANTED TO TALK ABOUT A FOOTBALL GAME!
