Peace Between Israel & Various Arabs Is Wonderful, But…

The cause of much middle-east conflict is intra-arab tribal crap.  A huge conflict was, and still festers in many quarters, the Iran/Iraq war.  Good that arabs are chilling with the Israelis, but the region is still a hotbed of tribal barbarians covered with a very thin veneer of Western accouterments. (And, let it be ritually noted that the “Palestinians” are the worst of the whole lot.) Here, Buchanan tries to elucidate something, I’m not quite sure what; he is pretty sharp for an elderly dude, eh?

  1. Ho-hum.  All Mr. Buchanan seems to be saying is that there are many active conflicts under way in the greater Middle East.  Not exactly news.

Definitely, the situation is complicated — the Iranians are not Arabs, but many Iranians are not Persian.  The Greeks and the Turks are not Arabs.  And the presence of civil wars inside Libya and Yemen is evidence that the outsider’s view of “countries” does not adequately describe the internal divisions within those “countries”.  Remember that the reason for the proliferation of princes within Saudi Arabia stemmed from the need of founder Al Saud to take a wife from the ruling family of each of the tribes he conquered to try to hold the warring tribes together.

An Arab, Greek, or Iranian looking at the US from outside might not recognize the extent of internal divisions within this country.  The Great Satan is no more unified than they are — Democrats vs. Not-The-Democrats, Abortionists vs. Pro-Life, Anti-gun activists vs. gun owners, Environmentalists vs. human beings.  The best we can hope for, in the greater Middle East as well as in the US, is for Churchillian jaw-jaw instead of war-war.

Yes, a sharp old dude.  This column is not making any recommendations, it is just advising caution because there are many unresolved tensions in the Middle East and several simmering conflicts that could break out into real war at any moment.

It is good to be reminded from time to time about conflicts that go unreported in American media.

As Billy Clinton might have said, it depends on what the definition of “real war” is.  The worst case at present is Libya, where — thanks to the vile Euros persuading Barry & his minions to bomb Ghaddafi out of office — real well-armed armies are actively knocking lumps out of each other.  The population of Yemen might be forgiven for thinking that they are in a real war, which occasionally spills over the border into Saudi Arabia.

If a real war is one that involves developed countries, probably the most dangerous situation now is between NATO members Turkey & Greece.  (Aren’t international alliances wonderful!).  Turkey is an ancient enemy of Russia (Crimean War, anyone?) and is currently on the opposite side from Russia in the war in Libya.  China’s involvement in the Middle East is increasing, but is not reported by Western media for reasons we all can understand.

Let’s just hope that we in the US can keep our Deep State under control and stay out of any broader war that develops.  Barry’s “Responsibility 2 Protect” was seriously foolish — let’s leave other people to sort out their own problems.  The World Policeman should follow the example of the Portland police, and stand down.

  4. I vote for appointing Barry and Mr. Michelle Ambassadors Extraordinary to forever weld the seams of Middle East Peace.  The other side proves in kind, then everybody gathers to stone them to death.  Every war must end with human sacrifice.  Like Roman decimation, it seals the deal.

Might I add to the long list:

    1. Westerners

    2. Women

    3. Jews

Who don’t these people hate? There is something wrong with the culture whether you’re Arab or Persian. I (influenced by Ayaan Hirsi Ali) tend to think their perverse values were implanted by the infamous Prophet who used negativity to get what he wanted- whether it be in war or personal gain.
