Book Review: Use of Force

“Use of Force” by Brad ThorThis is the seventeenth novel in the author’s Scot Harvath series, which began with The Lions of Lucerne. As this book begins, Scot Harvath, operative for the Carlton Group, a private outfit that does “the jobs the CIA won’t do” is under cover at the Burning Man festival in the Black Rock Desert of Nevada. He and his team are tracking a terrorist thought to be conducting advance surveillance for attacks within the U.S. Only as the operation unfolds does he realise he’s walked into the middle of a mass casualty attack already in progress. He manages to disable his target, but another suicide bomber detonates in a crowded area, with many dead and injured.

Meanwhile, following the capsizing of a boat smuggling “migrants” into Sicily, the body of a much-wanted and long-sought terrorist chemist, known to be researching chemical and biological weapons of mass destruction, is fished out of the Mediterranean. Why would he, after flying under the radar for years in the Near East and Maghreb, be heading to Europe? The CIA reports, “Over the last several months, we’ve been picking up chatter about an impending series of attacks, culminating in something very big, somewhere in Europe” … “We think that whatever he was planning, it’s ready to go operational.”... This Week’s Book Review – The Vanishing Woman

I write a weekly book review for the Daily News of Galveston County. (It is not the biggest daily newspaper in Texas, but it is the oldest.) My review normally appears Wednesdays. When it appears, I post the review here on the following Sunday.

Am I now the only person in the world who has no idea who Yanni

And Laurel happen to be, what it means and all that?

I chose to ignore the whole phenomena and now there are posts about a new sensation: Green Needle vs Brainstorm. Since those involved a lit up crystal, I did make my way part way through a youtube about it. However,  I confess, I couldn’t hear either the word “Brainstorm” or the word “Green Needle.” All I heard were R2D2 kinda sounds…... [Read More]

Commoner, Commonest

I feel terribly for Her Majesty.  Still saddled with the oafish tampon-wannabe of a son, she will now see her family tree rounded out by the addition of trash to stupidity.  The Hollywood trollop has been around the block more times than the Postman, and unabashedly so.  She has ex-boyfriends and old flings crawling out of the woodwork, and believe me, they’ll show up for their share in the headlines and book sales.

Diana was the fairy-tale commoner-princess, and Kate is her thematic heir.  Meghan Markle comes from show-biz no’bility and provides the counter-claim to the idea that anybody can rise to station.  She and the moron boy-child Harry feel that they are uniting two kingdoms.  I feel that Harry is so insecure that he needs the affirmation of bringing down a trophy wife from the big screen.  That’s no trophy, Harry, that’s just a cup.  You’re already royalty, and while it’s no modern basis for a system of government, it *is* a priceless cultural artifact which helps define not only Britons (at least the English), but the larger Anglosphere.  Yes, we fought you for our rights — our rights *as Britons*!  No man is an island — I have a stake in this graffiti upon our heritage.... Trump Slams Amazon by Attempting to Rid US of Bad Contract

Often I have posted articles about how Jeff Bezos used his army of lobbyists to gain the approval of Congress such that in Spring of 2007, Congress decided to allow Bezos to purchase the US Post office.

Here is a link here to article I wrote in March 2018:... [Read More]

Shaking My Head At The News…I Am Not Confuse…They Have Lit A Fuse…

We are entering the period of incredulity.

Our own government watchdogs are reporting that our DOJ, FBI, State Department and CIA have executed a plan to avoid investigating known crimes by the Democrat candidate and campaign and then the same group conspired to frame the Republican candidate and campaign.... [Read More]

Bare Naked Faces

Wednesday night, I played clarinet and drums in my homeschool orchestra. Our twelve members range in age from six to mid-fifties. After the concert, as we were sharing our potluck meal and friendly conversation, I noticed something about the other women in the group. Mothers like me, homeschool teachers like me, none of us were wearing any makeup.

This is very unusual. Most of the time, I am the only woman in a room without any makeup. To realize that none of us wear makeup, not just not to rehearsals but also not to concerts, when we are all appearing on stage, was heartening in an odd way, and it got me to thinking.... [Read More]

Stop giving the forces of the entrenched administrative system the benefit of the doubt.

http://amp.dailycaller.com/2018/05/18/clapper-fbi-spying-trump-campaign/

Clapper seems to think so. I am sure that the anti-Trump conservatives will also explain why it was right for a Democrat administration to use intelligence resources against an America who was running for President with the Republican party. If this Jeb! they would be outraged.... [Read More]
