I almost never watch movies, had no idea the book had been made into a movie. A bad one at that. I am reading now the second part of the story, The Promise. I have about 4 or 5 of Chaim Potok’s books but read them so long ago had forgotten them.
How on earth could they make a decent movie with all the dialog-arguments while studying the Talmud?

How do you find it in the book? All I found was the Library of Congress Catalog Card Number.

The Chosen by Chaim Potok. About two fathers and their sons …. in a way that will ring just as true in Iowa as in Brooklyn. One father raising his son in silence. Both fathers are Rabbis.
    Published April 28, 1967

I don’t know what the ISBN is.

    • Hi Kay! Concur on the universality of the themes of spirituality, family, and painful decisions made while growing up. I’d caution against the movie based on the book: the movie has a fraction of the action, and none whatever of the depth or complexity.
