I read the linked article and I am not buying their spin. Ventilators are now made by a handful of boutique manufacturers who will be hard pressed to dramatically increase production. They can probably triple their production, but that will be their limit.
The auto manufacturers are not talking about producing ventilators on auto assembly factory floors. They are talking about converting automotive air conditioning production into ventilators. Housings can be pressed from automotive plastic and the hoses and blowers are stock. Air pressure sensors are common enough. The only…[Read more]

Great way to be responsive to a request.
    Thanks.

In the midst of coronavirus hysteria, a Christian should consider Martin Luther’s response to the Plague.

I enjoyed the sermon, but I do not think it was a very good sermon. It was fun to see the link from the Trojan Horse to the Gospel to Trumpian politics. But to my way of thinking, a sermon should devote more attention to the Gospel.
I do, however, think it is past time for traditionalist Christian churches to quit pretending to political neutrality. Since the Anti-American Party has embraced a platform that advances the causes of the Enemy, they should be directly opposed, by name, in Christian churches.

I lean to the “not a serious enough problem” side.

I put up a post “Ali on Rush” with no problems.
But it is labeled “uncategorized” because I did not see the categories window that is usually on the right sidebar.

    • I have no idea why you didn’t see the Categories box. I just opened a new post composition window and it was right where it’s supposed to be. I edited your post as administrator and added what seemed reasonable categories. Again, the categories box appeared normally on the post edit page. If you edit the post now, do you see the categories box?

I wondered about the blank notifications. Thanks for the explanation.
And, thanks for maintaining such a cool site.

President Trump gave a pro-life speech to the United Nations.

President Trump: “Every Child, Born and Unborn, is a Sacred Gift From God”

In unprecedented remarks, President Trump told the General Assembly, “Like many nations here today, we in America believe that every child – born and unborn – is a sacred gift from God.”

Archbishop Viganò came out of hiding to condemn Cardinal Marx.

    https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/breaking-vigano-comes-out-of-hiding-to-protest-german-bishops-synodal-path-of-destruction

In his first public appearance since going into hiding over a year ago, Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò joined other prominent Catholics in Munich today in prayer and protest against the German Episcopal Conference and its President Cardinal Marx. The Vatican whistleblower joined Catholic laity to oppose the German prelates’ plan to embark on a “synodal path” that critics say would create a “new ch…[Read more]

    Welcome, Lizards.
I am the owner of one of the most active groups here, and it might be a little confusing so I will explain. Happy Warriors began life at another membership group blog named Ricochet, where it still lives on as a refuge for supporters of President Trump.
At Ratburger.org, Happy Warriors is both a place to celebrate conservative victories by President Trump and Team Trump, and also a place to vent about that other group blog. The venting is done by a small group of dual-passport members who prefer to vent here rather than where their remarks can be observed by the…[Read more]

John, your fix worked. I got back on the site about an hour and a half ago, and have not encountered the problem since then.
    Thanks a heap. Good work.

    I am getting “Error 500” a lot.
I tried a restart. I switched from Chrome to Brave.
    Still crashing.
    No difficulties on other sites.

    • Now taking only 10 seconds or so to load. Was brutal late morning and early afternoon. Occasionally would time out before the menu bar could load

    • There is some kind of bizarre out of memory problem that I haven’t seen before. It appears to have started at 19:23:40 UTC. I am investigating it now.

    • From the investigation so far, it appears we are hitting the internal (self-enforced) limit on memory allocation for PHP-FPM worker processes. We last ran into this on 2019-07-24, when I increased the default maximum allocation from 128 Mb to 256 Mb. The messages in the log appear to indicate we are now hitting that limit, which causes 500 errors. (I don’t know if it can cause slow response.)

I increased the maximum to 512 Mb. Since I did this, I haven’t seen a 500 error (but that’s just a few minutes so far). We’ll see.

    • This appears to be a combination of increased load on the site running into a memory limit configured in the server and/or an attack consuming resources which ran into the limit. A summary is on tonight’s Updates Group post:

As I note, I lack the tools to identify the cause of these perturbations, so at the moment, I’m mostly trying things to see what happens. Please let me know if you perceive the problems to have abated or, sadly, stayed the same or gotten worse.

Ratburger.org keeps crashing. I think it is just repeatedly timing out, on account of AT&T lies about my level of service. It is Friday night and every account is either streaming a movie or playing a MMG, so our little copper hub is choked.

Unless you see something special, assume the problem is on my end. But it is frustrating.

That was my report of a problem scheduling a post for delayed publication. I still don’t know what I did wrong.
