    Hey Dime!
Sorry to be off the grid.
I have been able to return to The Pool. I am so out of shape it’s a little dismaying, but I’m doing what I can. We lost the use of a city pool and now we’re using an outdoor club pool which limits us to a later-in-the morning workout which conflicts with my work schedule. So, I can only go 3 days a week. Better, so much better, than nothing.
I’m doing intermittent fasting and have yet to see any results but I am giving it the time it needs. I’ve started lifting some weights and doing some strength training too but am not very good at it yet.

Hey Dime, sorry to be so far under the radar.
We have been inactive – sadly. Swimming is a challenge as our pools are limited in capacity and the beaches we usually launch from are closed due to high levels of bacteria (think way too many Canada geese). I’m headed for the ocean soon and plan to walk daily while there. Nice to ‘see’ you.

Yes, I’ve started it again, too. I gained a buncha weight during the shutdowns and feel like the Stay-Puffed marshmallow man.

Oh dear, so sorry to be so out of touch.
*sigh* our lockdown is so fantastically dreary. I finally bought a wetsuit so I could do some open-water swimming. I’ve only gone twice and have been dismayed by my lack of stamina and strength after being stuck on dry land for over 2 months now. We are strongly petitioning our doofus guv to let the pools open again so we can swim: this affects 1000s of people. Swimming pools are one of the safest’ places people can be yet there’s the deference to ‘science’ and ‘data’ which, it appears, is being twisted for another agenda. It is all very…[Read more]

It’s amazing how easy it is to fast for 18 hours. Today, though, it didn’t happen as we had a family dinner that went late and I kept eating. However, I won’t be needing to eat anything tomorrow until late afternoon, so there will be another 18-20 hour fast. Next on the list is to eliminate sugar and white flour completely; hasn’t happened yet.

I’ve been at the pool more in spirit than 100% presence, it seems. I was there 3 times this past week. I’m in a bit of a slump it seems but hope to ‘right my ship’ before too much longer. I’ve been wanting to thank whomever recommended ‘The Obesity Code’ as I am implementing an intermittent fast and it does seem to be making me feel better. What do you do about all the rice in your Japanese diet? Seriously; not asking for a friend.

    • I think you heard about the “The Obesity Code” from me who heard about it from Stu in Tokyo. It is good way to control the diet. I thought I would never be able to do it and it sounded a little crazy.

Lately I don’t eat very much rice.
Part of the diet is knowing you can just forget about food for a day.
Let me know how it goes.

I hope you liked it. I wanted it to be ‘just right’ and had a lot of hesitation about putting myself ‘out there.’ Writing for an unknown audience is daunting. Would you mind if I posted our group portrait at the legacy site? I won’t do it if you don’t think it’s a good idea.
Swimming going okay. Have been super low-energy of late but hope to get that figured out before too much longer.

    Still swimming!
Still recovering from my November illness.
And, putting the final touches on a post about our time with you. No sense rushing things, you know.

I was going to swim today (thinking of what the road to hell is paved with…) but it didn’t happen. I plan to swim – in The Outdoor Pool – on New Year’s Eve morning with my fellow otters. Should be a great way to usher out 2019. Also, I am finally putting together a post about our trip to see Japan and its resident socks. I know I have alluded to this (see above, re: paving materials) for months. I think now I am ready.

    Hi Dime,
I’ve been out of town for a while and little internet access. I swam once while on the road. Hoping to get my last two days of the year in on 12/30 and 12/31!

I swam for the first time in a month on 02 December (had been very ill with some kind of virus). I was to swim outdoors today (every Saturday is outdoor pool day) but it was way too cold so decided not to. Good you’re getting steps in.

Open water swimming in Martha Lake this morning. Perfect weather, great company, good breakfast afterwards.
I’d post a photo but I don’t know how to!

Swimming in open water again tomorrow, the 28th.
Have you worn your NEO cap yet?

    Hey dimeboy!
2100 yards today, 05/05 in an outdoor pool with the sun shining just perfectly on all of us. 21oo yards yesterday as well. Good to see you have returned to the H2O!

1700 yards and change today. A buncha people are prepping for a big meet this weekend so it was a taper week (as opposed to a tapir week; not sure they’re water friendly) with low yardage, lots of drills, and generally agreeable to my low energy just now.

OK swimming fans. I have some yardage to report.
    1/10: 1800
    1/12: 2000
    1/13: 2200
    1/19: 2100
    1/20: 2400
    1/26: 2000
    1/29: 2150
    1/31: 2000
As you can see, I’ve been inconsistent but am hoping to rectify that.
“Swim. Be happy.” as the killer dolphins in my favorite comic strip say. Toodles!

Oh so happy to be here. I’ll start logging yardage in a couple of days here: waylaid by the New Year holiday and early work on the 2nd.
